There are so many Disney Resorts to choose from!
Wahoo, you've decided to stay on-site at Disney World! This is a huge step in making your Disney vacation magical, and there are several things to consider when picking your resort. I'll walk you through the different levels of Disney Resorts and help you decide which one might be right for you.
Value Resorts
There are 5 Value Resorts, and they're the most affordable option at Disney World. These rooms typically sleep up to 5 people, with 2 double beds in most rooms. Some resorts offer family suites, which can accommodate up to 6 people and include a queen bed, a drop-down double bed, and a double sofa bed. The suites also have a kitchenette (microwave, mini-fridge, and sink).
The themed rooms and pools make the resorts super fun for families, and they offer a variety of transportation options. The All Star Resorts only have bus transportation, while Art of Animation and Pop Century also have access to the Skyliner in addition to buses.
Moderate Resorts
There are 4 Moderate Resorts, offering larger rooms that sleep up to 5 people with 2 queen beds or a king bed (some rooms also have a pull-down child-sized bed). Some of these resorts offer suits, and each has a pool with hot tubs and waterslides. The exception is Port Orleans Riverside, which lacks a slide, but if you stay there, you can visit Port Orleans French Quarter- these are sister resorts, so you're free to use the amenities at both!
Moderate Resorts have various transportation options, including buses, boats, and skyliner (depending on the resort).
Deluxe Resort
Disney World has 8 Deluxe Resorts, and they're the most expensive on-property options. These resorts have rooms that can sleep up to 5 people, and many resorts offer suites. The themed pools with waterslides and hot tubs are a big draw, as are the close proximity to the parks and top-notch transportation options.
Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and Contemporary are on the Monorail system, while Wilderness Lodge offers boat and bus transportation. Beach Club and Boardwalk have boat, bus and skyliner transportation and are within walking distance to Epcot. Animal Kingdom Lodge offers bus transportation only.
Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground
For a more budget-friendly option, consider Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground. This is a unique experience where you can bring your own tent, trailer, or motorhome. You'll enjoy typical campground amenities, like large spaces for tents, two pools (one with a waterslide), hot tubs, and bus/boat transportation to the parks.
It's a great choice for those who love camping and want to experience Disney in a different way. However, the campground is large, so you may need to rent a golf cart or plan to drive to get around easily.
Top Tips for Choosing a Resort:
1. Budget: What's your price range? While I'm always drawn to Deluxe Resorts, it's important to be realistic about what fits your family's budget. If you have your heart set on a specific resort, keep an eye out for discounts!
2. Research the Resort: Visit the resort's page on the Walt Disney World website. Check for construction updates, available restaurants, and amenities offered at the resort.
3. Room Types: Look at all the room options and their locations. Some rooms are more convenient to transportation or park entrances, so check the maps on the Disney website or in the My Disney Experience app.
4. How You'll Use the Room: Are you planning to spend a lot of time in the resort, or is it just a place to sleep between park visits? If you want to enjoy the resort, consider amenities like pools and activities.
5. Ask Around: Do you know anyone who's stayed at a Disney resort? Ask for their recommendations! People who have been often have great tips and insights to share.
No matter which resort level you choose, staying on-site at Disney World will enhance your vacation experience with convenience, unique amenities, and a touch of Disney magic. From the fun and affordable Value Resorts to the luxurious Deluxe options, there's something for everyone. By taking the time to consider your budget, the room features, and how you plan to use the resort, you'll be able to pick the perfect place for your stay.
Happy planning, and may your Disney adventure be filled with unforgettable memories!
