Keys to the Kingdom Tour!
I hear this all the time, "Disney isn't a vacation spot unless you take your kids"! Well I hate to break it to you but they couldn't be more wrong! Disney is a great vacation spot no matter your age, married or not, kids or not! We have taken trips to Disney as a family, and my husband and I have taken trips just the two of us! Our favorite thing we have done so far when it is just the two of us is The Keys to the Kingdom Tour. It is a 5 hour in-depth tour of Magic Kingdom. This tour includes the fascinating history of Magic Kingdom and backstage access to legendary hidden areas! It is a walking tour that takes you through the creation and evaluation of one of the most beloved parks at Disney World. It gets you into the Utilidors, and backstage areas like where the parade is staged, and so much more! They provide lots of little-known facts (unless your a Disney Nerd like me!), trivia and other fun information about the park, and rides. Lunch is included in your tour and they have some super fun keepsakes for you to take home!
Okay so some people might be wondering what the utilidors even are! Well let me fill you in quick! Magic Kingdom park is basically built on the "second" level! Meaning there is a whole level below that beloved castle! This allows the cast members to travel unseen through the parks. This was by far the coolest thing I have seen in Disney!
This tour also lets you learn more about the man behind the mouse. His story is so inspirational and it truly is amazing that he didn't just give up each time a door closed! You lean a lot of neat things that make you appreciate all of the little details that Disney has included in each area of the parks.
Now in order to go on the tour, you need to have theme park admission for that day (in addition to the tour ticket). You are outside for the majority of the tour, so dress appropriately for the weather. I also recommend pre-booking, same day reservations can happen but is subject to availability.
I don't have any pictures to share of this tour because you are not allowed to use any sort of recording equipment during the tour. You really get to see areas that normal guests don't so they want to make sure those don't get leaked! You also must be 16 years old or older (with valid ID) in order to go on the tour. They don't allow kids on the tour because it "ruins the magic" of Disney when you see some cast members in the utilidors.
Dan and I really enjoyed this tour, and it added another layer to our Disney trip. I Highly recommend this tour! I am a Disney Nerd and even I learned something new!
So, to those who think Disney is only for kids, let me just say- you're missing out on a whole new level of magic! Disney is a fantastic destination for all ages, whether you're visiting with kids, as a couple, or even solo. There's so much more to explore beyond the attractions, and experiences like the Keys to the Kingdom tour really prove that Disney can be just as magical for adults.
Whether you're planning a family getaway or a special adult trip, don't let anyone tell you that Disney is only for kids! There's something for everyone here, and I can't wait to share more tips and stories to help you make the most of your Disney adventure.
Thanks for following along - let's keep making those magical memories!
